La prima bistecca a volare nello spazio

The launch of the Florentine steak into space was successful

It could only be called Fiorenza, the first spatial Florentine steak, in every sense.
Starting from Tenuta Sant’Ilario in Gambassi Terme, the 1.2 kg steak traveled for four hours hooked to a cutting board and reached the stratosphere, the second of the five layers into which the atmosphere is divided.
Once the permits to fly were obtained, the preparations included the calculation of the winds and of the launch and fall trajectories, given that once the height of 31 km was reached, the pressure and temperature of -54 ° C blew up the balloon filled with 6 cubic meters of helium to which Fiorenza was attached.

Fiorenza is a Florentine steak .. spatial

After the explosion, the steak began its descent to earth monitored by a GPS and secured to a parachute which gently brought it back to the landing in the countryside of Siena. The adventure involved several Trattoria dall’Oste partners, from Chi.Ma to the Black Whale team, with the latter recording all phases of the 4
-hour flight of the space steak through the installation of two cameras.
Once back at the base, Fiorenza deserved a special treatment that guaranteed its conservation. It was right to recognize a sort of immortality to the Florentine steak explorer: a resin-based treatment has allowed the Florentine steak to remain set in a protective casing that will perfectly preserve it, making it in effect an heirloom to be kept.
Fiorenza will be exhibited in the next days of April 2019 at the Trattoria dall’Oste headquarters in Via Oricellari 29 which will become the museum where it will be possible to find a spatial Florentine steak … in every sense!
